Skeletal Clocks & Marker Clocks

A LUMICHRON Basic Skeletal clock features hands and hour markers (or numbers) only, mounted directly to a building fascia or wall and without a surrounding case. The exposed clock face requires the clock movement to be mounted on the inside of the wall. If that is not accessible, then the movement can be mounted in an opening on the front of the wall, with an escutcheon plate to cover the opening. We call this a Rosette Skeletal Clock. Skeletal with Background Dial features the markers and hands on an added dial element (or choose a case clock).

Your dial and hand selection for a wall clock such as this will partly be determined by the size of the clock and whether or not you would like these elements illuminated. Size is always the outside diameter, measuring from the top of the 12 (or the top of the index at the 12:00 position) to the bottom of the 6 (or the bottom of the index at the 6:00 position). Don’t confuse with radius measurement which is only half the clock face!

Illumination for skeletal clocks is achieved with LED halo or front lighting on each hand and dial element (numbers or markers).  At Lumichron we build these illuminated elements with polycarbonate covers, for durability and long life.

All tower, building, architectural, and outdoor clocks manufactured by LUMICHRON are completely automatic for hands-free operation. The clock’s time is managed by a clock controller.  The controller (basically a small computer) keeps track of time with a quartz-crystal and lithium battery and is often synchronized with a GPS antenna for absolute time accuracy with NIST.
