WILDWOOD SPRINGS ASSOC. IN SPRING LAKE, MICHIGAN
Our customer Mark Morin Wildwood Springs just called to say “I love Lumichron!” The Wildwood Springs Homeowners Association of Spring Lake Michigan has an entryway tower with a 4-sided tower clock. Last year we replaced the clockworks, as the original mechanisms had never worked properly, one or another of the clock faces would be out of sync or not operational. The clock tower was originally installed in 1993.
Because of high winds in West Michigan, typical for late October, today there was 4-hour power outage in the area. Mr. Morin was thrilled to discover, when he drove by the clock tower after electricity had been restored, that all four faces of the clock were EXACTLY on time and in sync! He was happy: We are happy!

TAMALPAIS HIGH SCHOOL
Tam High, dubbed “the most beautiful campus in the state of California.”
“I am very pleased; and, I have received many thank you’s for this Tam Fix,” wrote Bill Sefton, Vice President of the Tam Alumni Association. “Thank you Ian Macartney’s Lumichron.”
LUMICHRON was contracted to install new, state-of-the-art, clock movements and hand sets for each of the three clock faces. The alums mounted a fund raising campaign, focusing on participation by alumni, community leaders, and Mill Valley residents. Tam’s Class of 1947 first installed the set of three, 108-inch diameter (nine feet!) clocks as a Class Gift to memorialize the Tam students and alumni that lost their lives fighting in World War II.
Thank you Bill Sefton and the Tam High Alum for letting Lumichron be a part of your tradition!!

LUMICHRON CLOCK NEAR LIBRARY PARK IN WATERVLIET
THE WHOLE ENCHILADA
Sometimes it takes more than two (or three) hands to make a clock! Thank you to all the folks at the Watervliet Downtown Development Authority, the Coloma Watervliet Area Chamber of Commerce, the North Berrien Community Development, and the Michigan Realtors Association for their part in the new LUMICHRON clock near Library Park in Watervliet!
The new Post Clock was installed last month, and Bob Becker, of the Watervliet Downtown Development Authority said “It’s a self-fixing clock. It’s all automatic. It’ll redo the time at (daylight) the time change, light up at night — it’s the whole enchilada.”
Chana Kniebes, of the North Berrien Community Development, wrote “We are so happy for this beautiful timepiece in our downtown. I would recommend anyone to Lumichron.” Kniebes helped the authority apply for a grant for the project which was awarded from the Michigan Realtors Association.
Can we just say, we’ve been happy to make TIME for all the folks in Watervliet!
You can read more about the project in the Herald Palladium here and here.
THE VILLAGE CLOCK
“I am happy that we have something as iconic and beautiful. Our residents have been outstanding in their support.”
~ Steve Shirley of Carrollwood Village, Florida
On November 19, a new Carrollwood Village landmark was unveiled – the Village Clock, located at the outh Village and Dale Mabry entrance. “The idea was originally presented by our Architectural Branding firm,” said Carrollwood Village resident Steve Shirley, Chairman of Phase 1 Renovations and Rebranding.
“While on a business trip in Switzerland, we saw that many of the beautiful villages in the country had a town clock that served as a focal point and source of pride within the community and our board agreed that it would be a wonderful addition to our neighborhood. A clock is very much like a building, there’s consistency to it. Business comes and goes and things change but this will be something that anchors the neighborhood for many years.”
Standing at 10 ½ feet tall, the clock took two years of planning to come to fruition. Lumichron Tower Clocks a Master Builder, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, custom built the Pocket-watch-style Pedestal clock for Carrollwood Village. It is operated by GPS satellite for accurate time and uses celestial measurements for sunrise and sunsets. The Lumichron Clock face weighs approximately 58 pounds and has a polycarbonate dial, copper hands and is LED internally illuminated with a hammered black finish to match the new Village street and stop signs. “We wanted something refined and appropriate for the street; it has a beautiful European quality to it,” said Shirley. The clock face and numerals are mathematically calculated to be read from approximately 300 feet.
For hundreds of years, street clocks have created focal points and served as gathering places while offering a sense of community across America. You’ll find clocks at thousands of locations, including city streetscapes, public spaces, and community gathering spots. Safety Harbor’s downtown has a clock similar in scale to the one in Carrollwood Village and County Staff report that each day they field as many questions about the clock as they do about manatees. “We’ve seen beautiful Village and town clocks serving as the pride of other communities,” said Shirley. “We’re equally proud of where we live so I am happy that we have something as iconic and beautiful. Our residents have been outstanding in their support.”
