Lumichron Custom Street Clock with Gold Head and Crown custom clock face, Great Barrington, Massachusetts
LUMICHRON just completed a special project: we crafted a street clock (also known as a post clock) to replicate a pocket watch at the request of our customer in Great Barrington, Massachusetts. The picture-perfect all-American town (voted #one of the top 20 “best small towns” in America by Smithsonian magazine) is now graced with a brand-new Victorian street clock with a gold head and crown. The location used to have a clock and jewelry shop a really long time ago, so when the city undertook a new streetscaping project, it was an opportunity to re-introduce the classic clock.
Although vintage in appearance, the double-faced outdoor clock features the most up-to-date digital timing equipment, made in Switzerland. The master clock computer automatically keeps track of the time and resets the two ‘slave’ movements inside the clock head in case of power interruptions and for Daylight Saving Time. The illumination automatically turns on/off at dusk/dawn, shifting daily according to actual sunrise and sunset for the exact GPS coordinates.
In addition, the clock features a cast aluminum head and post, heavy-duty architectural-grade powdercoat finish, tempered glass crystals, translucent white unbreakable polycarbonate dials, 100,000+ hr rated LED’s (about 23 years!), and a custom-carved resin-cast crown (winder) on top.
This is a great example of fulfilling a vision for our customer, which we at LUMICHRON enjoy so much.
